Rays of sunshine out of the grey
Those first golden gleams that seem to come from nowhere after an endlessly grey sky announces that maybe warmer weather is on its way. It feels exciting, new and fresh and when captured on camera we see strong shadows and warming light - a far step away from the cool, even, flatness we get during the winter months. I love both ways of lighting, the way north light softly envelops the subject but also the deep contrast of light and dark in full sunshine. As Spring continues to build pace here’s an image I shot at the beginning of last summer for a collaboration between Boursin and Côte Brasserie - heritage tomatoes, flat breads and whipped Boursin, totally delicious.
